Australian OE # 01: Accent


From living in Australia I have learned that Australians think we are the ones that have an accent.

I know, I know. It's hard to believe. But I mean it.

Last year I lived in Brisbane and this is a picture [click to enlarge] of a billboard I took while I was there.

It's an add for Kiwi made Mainland cheese. Aggh.

Yeah man.

But the worst thing in the world is that if I want people to call me "Rick" I have to say my name differently.

Me: "Hi there, I'm Rick."

Ozzy: "Gidday Rock..Rex...Rack?"

Me: "Yeah, no. My name's Reeeeeek."

Ozzy: "Oh, well gidday Rick."

Me: "That's what I frickin' said in the first place, sport!"
